Poster designed in 1990 by Joss Maclennan in remembrance of the December 6th Montreal Massacre in 1989. Different versions of this iconic poster have been produced in both English and French. This one was sponsored by the many women’s organizations and unions listed on the poster, including the Black Women’s Collective, Canadian Auto Workers Union, Federation of Women Teacher’s Associations of Ontario, Healthsharing Magazine, National Action Committee on the Status of Women, Toronto Women’s Bookstore, and many more.

This poster is one of a number by Joss Maclennan featured in the Rise Up archival collection that illuminate her passion for clear language, strong visuals and dedication to social justice.Her work supports change on issues spanning domestic violence prevention, reproductive justice, poverty, racism, 2SLGBTQIA+ and workers’ rights, the environment, and the arts, Joss has created designs and illustrations for some of Canada’s most iconic social justice campaigns, including The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
